Da Nang (VNA) – A conferencewas held in the central city of Da Nang on April 25 with a focus on the fourthIndustry Revolution (Industry 4.0) and the prospects of the Vietnam - Republic of Korea (RoK) cooperationin new industries.

The RoK’s Consul General in Da Nang, Kang Boo-sung, said future technologies that are innovative and representativeof Industry 4.0 are being implemented. Such technologies as the Internetof Things, robots, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence (AI) are nolonger imaginary.

For future prosperity, both Vietnamand the RoK should not only quickly respond to changes generated by Industry4.0 but also proactively make adaptation, he said, stressing that the twocountries have become the most important partners of each other in most areasover the last 30 years.

He expressed his belief that withactive cooperation in new technologies and new industries, the two countries will jointlyobtain prosperity in the future.

Pointing out the AI developmentsituation in Vietnam, a representative of the Ministry of Science andTechnology said 50 universities nationwide are providing training in AI. Thereare nearly 970,000 people working in the information and communicationstechnology sector, including nearly 180,000 IT personnel and about 1,600 in the AIsector with some 300 experts.

Vietnam has gained certain resultsamid Industry 4.0, but it hasn’t had any research or training establishments specialisingin AI at the regional and global levels while its open data system remainsmodest, the representative noted.

Talking about the Vietnam - RoK cooperation in Industry 4.0, participants shared information and experience inbuilding support mechanisms and policies. They also discussed measures to enhance ties between organisations and enterprises of the two sides todevelop human resources for the revolution, supporting the research anddevelopment of key technologies, and exchanging experts, researchers,businesspeople, and students./.
