Da Nang ready for APEC Economic Leaders’ Week

Da Nang (VNA) –
The centralcoastal city of Da Nang has basically completed all necessary facilities servingthe upcoming APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and related meetings to be held in thecity from November 6-11.

The event, which is a highlight of the APEC Year2017 in Vietnam, is expected to welcome leaders from 21 member economies.

At a recent working session with officials frommunicipal departments, agencies and People’s Committees of districts andcommunes on September 23, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee HuynhDuc Tho requested thorough preparation for the Week.

Meanwhile, at the ninth meeting of the APEC 2017National Committee in Hanoi on September 20, Deputy Prime Minister and ForeignMinister Pham Binh Minh said the Party and State leaders are very keen on howthe preparations have been done.

He said the preparations must be quickened withmore efficiency to ensure the optimal success of the Week.

Hosting APEC 2017 is a focus of Vietnam’sexternal activities this year as well as the country’s strategy to integratemore intensively and extensively into the world.

About 4,000 foreign and local correspondents areexpected to cover the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and related meetings.

Established in 1989, APEC comprises 21economies, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong,Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, PapuaNew Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand,the US, and Vietnam.-VNA
