Dak Lak province reports another dengue fever death
The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak recently recorded one death from dengue fever, the second fatality in the province since the start of the year, said Director of the provincial Centre for Preventive Medicine Pham Van Lao.

Dak Lak (VNA) – The Central Highlandsprovince of Dak Lak recently recorded one death from dengue fever, the second fatalityin the province since the start of the year, said Director of the provincialCentre for Preventive Medicine Pham Van Lao.
The victim, born in 1994 and residing in theprovince’s Cu M’gar district, was admitted to the Tay Nguyen (CentralHighlands) General Hospital on July 26 and passed away two days later.
Lao advised patients with signs of dengue feverto visit health facilities for prompt treatment, and pregnant women and peoplesuffering from obesity or chronic diseases must be more cautious.
The first dengue death was reported in the provinceon July 25.
As of July 30, more than 7,770 cases of denguefever were detected in all 15 districts and cities of Dak Lak, mainly in BuonMa Thuot city with 3,013 cases, and the districts of Buon Don (931), Krong Nang(907), Cu M’gar (591) and Krong Ana (380).
Vietnam has detected more than 105,000 cases ofdengue fever so far this year, including 10 fatalities, according to theMinistry of Health.
The highestnumber were reported in Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Dinh, PhuYen, Binh Duong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Ninh Thuan and Dong Nai.-VNA
Vietnam has seen a surge in dengue fever with about 71,000 cases recorded in the first half of 2019, rising more than three-fold year on year, according to the Ministry of Health.
The number of dengue fever cases in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa has reduced, but serious ones increased although this has yet been the peak season of the disease, according to local health authority.
Hanoi’s Department of Health has sent a document to medical stations and drugstores in the capital city to ensure they have enough medicine to prevent and treat dengue fever.
The capital city of Hanoi recorded additional 232 dengue fever cases from July 22-28, up 63 cases from the previous week, reported the municipal Health Department on July 29.
