Hanoi (VNA) – Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich discu🔴ssed with US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius measures to strengthen the bilateral defence ties at a meeting in Hanoi on September 16.

In the spirit of the Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting Defence Cooperation signed 2011 and the Joint Vision Declaration on Defence Relations in 2015, the two sides agreed to give priority to coordination in addressing humanitarian issues and war consequences. They also emphasised the need to intensify the sharing of experience in participating in the United Nations’ peacekeeping missions and disaster relief. The outcomes of US President Barack Obama’s visit to Vietnam in May were another topic of discussion at the meeting.-VNA
