Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh hosteda reception for Director of the US Agency forInternational Development (USAID) in Vietnam Michael Greene on March 7 inHanoi.
During the meeting, Greene highlighted the close relations between his agencyand Vietnam’s defence ministry in recent times, expressing his hope that thetwo sides will further expand their ties in the future.
Sen.Lieut. Gen. Vinh said he hopes the cooperation between Vietnam and the US inovercoming the consequences of war will continue to grow with strength.
Hostand guest discussed the upcoming visit to Vietnam by a delegation of US senatorsled by Senator Patrick Leahy.
Accordingly, the two sides are scheduled to announce the launch of a project totreat dioxin pollution at Bien Hoa airport, and that the US side will provide anassistance of 50 million USD for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin.
Vinhand Greene also talked about coordinating a workshop scheduled in Washington, oncooperation between the two countries in overcoming the consequences of war, aiming to mobilise resources, especially fromthe US side, for the work.

A training programme seeking to improve the capacity of judges and people’s court personnel for judging cases related to crimes against protected wildlife took place in Da Nang on July 11.
People with disabilities in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue are to receive better healthcare under the project “Raising Voices, Creating Opportunities” funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) via the Action to the Community Development Centre (ACDC).
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue officially initiated a project on February 21 which looks to provide better healthcare for people with disabilities during the 2018-2021 period.
