Deputy PM vows to facilitate Vietnam-Russia oil-gas cooperation

Dung made the statement while receivingKudryashov Sergey Ivanovich, General Director of Zarubezhneft JSC, in Hanoi onJanuary 25.
Zarubezhneft and the Vietnam Oiland Gas Group (PetroVietnam) formed the joint ventures of Vietsovpetro inVietnam and Rusvietpetro in Russia.
Praising oil and gas cooperationbetween Vietnam and Russia in the recent years, Dung said the sector is one ofthe pillars in bilateral ties, bringing huge incomes to their state budgets.
Oil and gas exploration andexploitation activities between PetroVietnam and Zarubezhneft have contributedto strengthening and developing the Vietnam-Russia strategic partnership, theDeputy PM noted.
He suggested Zarubezhneft workclosely with PetroVietnam to seek measures to cut production costs, improve theoperation efficiency of Vietsovpetro and Rusvietpetro, apply latesttechnologies, optimise potential of current oil fields and look for new ones.
Kudryashov said all jointprojects between Zarubezhneft and PetroVietnam have been implementedeffectively and on schedule as agreed by both sides, adding that Vietsovpetroand Rusvietpetro plan to explore new oil and gas fields in the future.
He asked the VietnameseGovernment to direct relevant ministries and agencies to remove obstacleshindering operations of the joint ventures.
Acknowledging the proposal, Dungassigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade and PetroVietnam to work with Zarubezhneftand relevant agencies of Vietnam and Russia to address existing problems.-VNA
