Hanoi (VNA) ൲– Providing top service to people and businesses, the Ministry of Transport was listed as the leading agency in the provision of online public services for the first 6 months of 2023.

Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Director of the Department for Roads of Vietnam, said that in the period, the department maintained the supply of 66 online public services (41 level-4 online public services and 25 partially online ones). These services included the provision of level-4 online driving license renewal on the National Public Service Portal nationwide from November 14, 2022. To date, there have been 10,156 registration dossiers, of which nearly 9,000 driving licenses have been issued. The implementation of online driving license renewal has contributed to simplifying and reducing procedures, saving time and costs. For drivers who live around 300km from major cities, each dossier for driving license renewal online helps them save about 700,000 VND (29.48 USD), said Cuong.
More than 6 months ago, congestion in conducting registration procedures made it hard to get licenses renewed. But with the online process, people can save time on costs when carrying out these procedures online.

From having to wait in line to submit documents, a registration certificate can now be done in minutes online. Making an appointment for inspection and issuance of a certificates confirming the extension of registration is now done much easier online, stated Nguyen Chien Thang, Director of the Vietnam Register. According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, at present, 97.5% of administrative procedures for ships entering and leaving seaports are handled online and digitally signed through the national portal.
Digitising administrative procedures not only helps businesses save time and costs for waiting ships, but also helps with the efficiency of the cargo handling process at seaports, and the use of port infrastructure is optimised, said the agency. Affirming that the building of e-Government is receiving special attention, Director of the Information Technology Centre under the Ministry of Transport Le Thanh Tung said that the ministry’s e-Government building and digital transformation is starting to produce great results. Specifically, the ministry handled 291 out of 404 administrative procedures online, equivalent to 72% of the total. In the first six months of 2023, 114,629 dossiers, were received and handled, and 80.2% of those were dealt with online. The number of dossiers handled online increased by 8.6% compared to that in the first 6 months of 2022. The Ministry of Transport has set a target of completing general data on vehicles and vehicle drivers by the end of this year, and completing the digitisation of data on transportation infrastructure by June 2024 so that traffic can be tracked online complete with individual records. The national public service portal, an electronic platform to connect the Government with people and enterprises, was officially opened nationwide on December 9, 2019.
The portal at //dichvucong.gov.vn consists of six components, namely national database on administrative procedures and the frequently asked questions and answers related to the procedures, on-time login and verification system to connect with ministerial and provincial-level public service portals, e-payment system, opinion section for citizens and enterprises, integrated public services of ministries, agencies and localities, and online supporting services./.
