Permanent Representative of Vietnam in Geneva Ambassador Mai Phan Dung affirmed Vietnam's consistent stance on supporting all efforts toward disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons while speaking at the high-level session of the Conference on Disarmament which was held in Geneva from February 24-26.

Vietnam supports the international community's all efforts to accelerate comprehensive and complete disarmament, with the highest priority being the elimination of weapons of mass destruction, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang said at a discussion of the UN General Assembly’s Committee on Disarmament and International Security (Committee 1) on October 8.

Vietnam has presented some proposals at the ongoing second session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2026 Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Vietnam is committed to, together with other countries, promoting international peace and security and addressing regional issues, Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, has said.

For the first time, a representative of Vietnamese youth has attended and delivered a speech at a special plenary session held by the Conference on Disarmament (CD) on the occasion of the International Youth Day (August 12).

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of Vietnam’s permanent mission to the United Nations, reiterated the commitments of ASEAN countries on the protection of civilians during armed conflicts in a speech on behalf of ASEAN countries at the open debate of the UN Security Council in New York on May 23.

An international workshop was held in Hanoi on April 2 under the theme “Vietnam in the UN Security Council: Strengthening partnership for sustainable peace”.

Nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament is essential to the world’s peace and security, and the total elimination of nuclear weapons is the only guarantee for countries not to be threatened with or attacked by nuclear weapons.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh is leading a Vietnamese delegation to attend the fourth Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) in Washington, the US, from March 31 to April 1.

Vietnam is deeply concerned about the latest hydrogen (H) bomb test conducted by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on January 6, stated Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh.

Vietnam will continue to support efforts toward comprehensive disarmament and non-proliferation, with the highest priority given to the general and complete elimination of nuclear weapons.
