Dong Nai: Dengue fever cases increase sharply

Over 3,500 cases of dengue fever, including three deaths, have been reported in the southern province of Dong Nai since early this year, doubling those in the same period last year.

According to Director of the provincial Department of Health Cao Trong Nguong, dengue has broken out in all 11 districts in the locality with the largest numbers of dengue infections in Bien Hoa city.

Currently, about 300 new cases are seen each week in the province, overloading local hospitals.

The provincial health sector has asked relevant agencies and offices to enact measures to prevent the disease’s spread, such as raisi♛n🍌g public awareness and spraying mosquito repellent in high-risk areas.

Dong Nai is among southern provinces hardest hit by a spread of dengue fever, it was reported at an August 28 conference on reviewing and sharing experiences in dengue fever prevention in the southern region.

So far this year, dengue cases in the southern region have reached 22,185, an increase of 54 percent compared to the same period last year. Of which, 16 deaths were reported.

The largest numbers ﷽of dengue infections were recorded in Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai, Binh Duong 💯and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces.-VNA
