Embassy representative visits sailor rescued in Philippines
A representative from the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines on August 22 visited Do Trung Hieu, a kidnapped sailor who was recently rescued by the host country’s agencies.
Hanoi (VNA) – A representativefrom the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines on August 22 visited Do TrungHieu, a kidnapped sailor who was recently rescued by the host country’sagencies, affirming that the embassy is working to bring him home.
Hieu thanked the embassy and offices ofVietnam and the Philippines for rescuing him, adding his health is recovering.
Hieu and and five other sailors, namely PhamMinh Tuan, Hoang Vo, Tran Khuong Dung, Hoang Van Hai and Hoang Trung Thong,were abducted from the Royal 16 ship off Sibagu island of Basilan, thePhilippines, in November 2016.
At the time of the attack, there were 19sailors on board the ship. Pirates released the ship and 13 sailors afterkidnapping the six people.-VNA
Do Trung Hieu, a kidnapped Vietnamese sailor, has been rescued by authorised agencies of the Philippines, announced the Consular Department under the Foreign Ministry on August 21.
