HCM City (VNA) – The EuropeanChamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) has proposed measures to support HoChi Minh City to become a smart city at a workshop in the city on November 24.
Yannick Millet, a member of theExecutive Board of the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC), highlighted the role of green constructionmaterials, such as baking-free bricks, foamed concrete, saying that they willcontribute to effective construction while reducing carbon emission duringoperation.
He also underlined the availability of a varietyof green construction materials that make practical contribution to savingenergy, recycling wastes, and reducing adverse impacts on the environment.
Experts from EuroCham underlined the need to takeenergy-efficient solutions right from designing to operating projects, thusreducing construction and operation costs while protecting the environment.
Nguyen Cong Minh Bao, Vice Chairman of the GreenGrowth Business Sector Committee said the city needs incentivesto encourage sustainable construction to become a smart city.
Relevant agencies should grant more greenconstruction certificates to contractors, designers and constructors whilelaunching campaigns to promote green construction sector.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s CommitteeLe Thanh Liem said the city welcomes foreign support, including EuroCham, forthe city’s sustainable development.
The city has focused investment in sustainableconstruction, green technology and efficient energy management to become asmart city in 2017-2025, Liem said.-VNA
