Last year, the EVN saw 6.9 percent power loss, 0.3 percentagepoints lower than its target, and completing its five-year plan a year prior tothe deadline.

In 2019, it aims to reduce the loss to 6.7 percent and to6.5 percent in the future.

Since 2015, the firm has seen improvements in power lossreduction, from 7.94 percent in 2015 to 7.57 percent in 2016, and 7.24 percentin 2017.

According to Prof. Tran Dinh Long, Vice Chairman of theVietnam Electrical Engineering Association, the reduction of power loss in the recent 10years has shown the EVN’s great efforts, helping Vietnam become a leadingcountry in terms of low power loss.

Prof. Long added that power loss in the power system largelydepends on investment in the network, requiring a long process of modernisation.-VNA
