Exhibitions on Hoang Sa, Truong Sa held in Nam Dinh, Ca Mau

Hanoi (VNA) – A digital exhibition entitled “Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly): Historical and legal evidence”, and a book introduction event are being organised at Hai Xuan high school in Hai Hau district in the northern province of Nam Dinh on October 24 – 25.

The events are jointly held by the provincial Department of Information and Communications, the provincial Border Guard Command, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the People’s Committee of Hai Hau district.

The exhibition focuses on five main themes: ancient documents, ancient maps of Vietnam, Hoang Sa and Truong Sa on Western maps, Hoang Sa and Truong Sa on Chinese and Western maps; Hoang Sa and Truong Sa during the French colonial period and before 1975; and images of Vietnam's sea and islands from 1975 to present.

It contributes to arousing love and passion for reading as well as fostering love for the homeland; as well as enhancing the spirit and responsibility in firmly safeguarding the sovereignty of the homeland's sea and islands among young people.

The organisers took this occasion to disseminate the work of managing and protecting the sovereignty of the sea, maintaining security and order to serve socio-economic development in coastal areas of Nam Dinh province; and raising public awareness of combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

On the same days, a similar exhibition is also taking in the southernmost province of Ca Mau, featuring 40 images on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa, and 21 images of sovereignty rocks provided by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

A documentary film on efforts of navy officers and soldiers on islands and outposts to protect the sovereignty of the country's sea and islands, and the lives of people, fishermen on the islands is screened in the framework of the exhibition.

Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Spoꦯrts and Tourism Tieu Minh Tien said the event is of great significance to promoting solidarity, and enhancing trust and sense of responsibility of people at home and abroad, especially young people in protecting and affirming the sovereignty of 🦋the Fatherland's sea and islands./.
