Hanoi (VNA) - Ministerof Finance Dinh Tien Dung on January 3 struck t♍he gong to open the firsttrading sessಌion of 2017 on the Hanoi Stock Exchange.

Dung urged Government agenciesand market members to improve the current conditions of the securities marketto promote it as a channel to raise funds for socio-economic development andincrease the competitiveness of the economy.

“The securities regulators needto improve the policies to meet the country𒉰’s economic conditions and matchinternationaဣl standards,” Dung said.

“We should keep restructuring thesecurities market and regulatory agencies, including the merger of the twolocal exchanges, increase the scale and quality of the market, diversify theproducts and make sure the market runs efficiently and sustainably.” “We have to be well-prepared tolaunch the derivatives market in the second quarter of 2017, study and developderivative products to meet the demand of investors and improve risk managementfor the derivatives market,” Dung said, urging Government agencies to completethe legal and technical system so that corporate bond market can operate in2018. “Market regulators and relevantagencies need to improve the quality of Government bond issuance to raise morecapital for the country’s development, seek for more investors to buyGovernment bonds and diversify bond products, tighten the policies to monitorlocal authorities in using the money raised from bond issuance and encouragethem to actively call for the participation of private investors in the localareas.” “We also need to push State-ownedenterprises (SOEs) to sell the State’s capital and get listings on thesecurities market, work with large-cap corporations and Government agencies toimplement more effectively the policies on equitisation and restructuring ofthe SOEs.”-VNA
