First Russia-Vietnam Youth Forum kicks off in St. Petersburg
The first Russia-Vietnam Youth Forum opened in Saint-Petersburg on November 30, which was the start for a series of activities within the framework of the Vietnam Year in Russia and Russia Year in Vietnam.

Moscow(VNA) – The first Russia-Vietnam Youth Forum opened inSaint-Petersburg on November 30, which was the start for a series of activitieswithin the framework of the Vietnam Year in Russia and Russia Year in Vietnam.
The forum saw the attendanceof Acting Governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov and VietnameseAmbassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh.
The Vietnamesedelegation to the forum was led by Secretary of theHo Chi Minh City chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union PhamHong Son.
Opening the event,Alexander Beglov said that young people are one of the key forces in promotingthe relationship between Russia and Vietnam. Therefore, it is necessary to engageyoung people from both countries in international dialogues, he said.
He called on the twosides to step up exchanges and meetings between young people and students ofthe two sides as one of the best ways to consolidate the cooperative relationsbetween the two nations.
Ambassador Ngo Duc Manhexpressed his belief that the forum will help the youth of both sides affirmtheir important role in the cause of national building and development of bothVietnam and Russia.
He stressed the needfor youngsters to equip themselves with comprehensive knowledge and skills tomaster new technology and apply them in production amidst the Fourth IndustrialRevolution.
Meanwhile, the HCM Cityyouth leader Pham Hong Son hailed theidea to hold the forum of St Petersburg, describing it as the first importantevent in the exchange of youth between the two twinning cities. He expressedhis belief that the forum will convey positive messages to young people of bothcountries, paving the way for the organisation of the second forum in Ho ChiMinh City in 2019.
The three-day forum includesdiscussions and talks on various issues of youngsters’ concern such ase-governments, smart cities, Russia-Vietnam cooperation in the digital economy,and digital culture in civil society development.
A contest on theVietnamese culture and the history of the Russia-Vietnam friendship will alsobe launched, with the 10 winners to attend the second edition of the forum inHo Chi Minh City in 2019.
On the sidelines of theforum, Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh had a meeting with Governor Alexander Beglov todiscuss specific cooperation orientations in the Vietnam Year in Russia and Russia Year in Vietnam.The diplomat also delivered a lecture on the Russia-Vietnam relations in the North-West Institute of Management’sFaculty of International Affairs.-VNA
