Five countries, territories agree with Vietnam’s flight resumption plan

Hanoi (VNA) – The US, Japan, Singapore,Cambodia and Taiwan (China) have agreed with Vietnam’s plan on resuming internationalair services from January.

Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan saidrepresentatives from the countries and territories have expressed their concernover visa procedures, and suggested Vietnam remove quarantine regulations tofurther facilitate the travelling of people, and increase flight frequency.

Earlier, under the instruction of the TransportMinistry, the Vietnam Civil Authority of Vietnam (CCAV) on December 17 sent dispatches to aviation agencies of countries and territories, proposing therestoration of regular international flights.

Among the targeted countries and territories, thefive have supported Vietnam’s proposal. Meanwhile, the final responses areawaited from Thailand, China and Laos.

Accordingly, the first flight to Japan is scheduledto be operated by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on January 5, andothers by Vietjet Air and All Nippons Airways on January 6.

The Transport Ministry is also seeking the PrimeMinister’s approval to increase regular international flights to Japan, theRepublic of Korea (RoK) and Taiwan to seven per week.

It has also proposed expanding the pilot plan toEurope and Australia to satisfy the demand for returning home of Vietnameseabroad on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Under the ministry’s plan, regular internationalpassenger flights will be reopened to areas with a high safety level which areBeijing/Guangzhou (China), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (the Republic of Korea), Taipei(Taiwan - China), Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Vientiane (Laos), Phnom Penh(Cambodia), and San Francisco/Los Angeles (the US)./.
