Foreign firms seek partners in HCM City

A host of Vietnamese and Sri Lankan businesses gathered at a trade exchange in Ho Chi Minh City on Aug 14 to seek business opportunities.
A host of Vietnamese and Sri Lankan businesses gathered at a tradeexchange in Ho Chi Minh City on Aug 14 to seek business opportunities.

The event was jointly organised by the Ho Chi Minh City chapter ofthe Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Sri Lanka ’sDankotuwa Association of Real Estate and Industrial Investors.

The visiting Sri Lankan businesses mainly work in farm produce andfoodstuff, garment accessories, and packaging and constructionmaterials.

S.H Harischandra, former senior advisorto Sri Lankan Minister of Commerce and Trade, said Sri Lanka isoffering investment incentives, including tax preferences andadministrative procedures, to improve cooperation with developingcountries in a bid to tap domestic market and expand investmentoverseas.

The same day, a number of Japanesecompanies working in business consultancy, foodstuff, automobile spareparts, industrial and construction machinery and office equipment made aworking visit to HCM City .

On the occasion,the HCM City SIYB business club and Japan ’s BSO company also hostedan exchange with Japanese counterparts, creating a business corridor forthe two countries to share information and study the market.-VNA
