Former President Le Duc Anh laid to rest in HCM City

A burial service for former President General Le Duc Anh, who was also former Politburo member and former advisor to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), was held at Ho Chi Minh City’s cemetery on May 3.

HCM City (VNA) – A burial service for former President General Le Duc Anh, who was alsoformer Politburo member and former advisor to the Central Committee of the CommunistParty of Vietnam (CPV), was held at Ho Chi Minh City’s cemetery on May 3.

Attending theceremony were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, former Prime Minister Nguyen TanDung, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, head of the PartyCentral Committee’s Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh, head of the PartyCentral Committee’s Information and Education Commission Vo Van Thuong, PermanentDeputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Secretary of the HCM City PartyCommittee Nguyen Thien Nhan, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front CentralCommittee Tran Thanh Man, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, leaders and former leaders of the Partyand State, HCM City’s leaders, representatives from people’s armed forces,revolutionary veterans and people from walks of life.

Leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, VietnamFatherland Front, comrades, compatriots, and the family of the former Presidentobserved a one-minute silence to pay their last respect to him. 

On behalf of the funeral organising board and the formerPresident’s family, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh expressedthanks to mourners for their condolences and attendance at the respect-payingceremonies, the memorial service, and the burial ceremony of General Le DucAnh.

General Le Duc Anh,who served as President of Vietnam from September 1992 to December 1997, passedaway on April 22 at the age of 99.

Vietnam has declaredtwo days of national mourning for him on May 3 and 4.-VNA
