Hanoi (VNA) – The Embassy of Indonesia in Vietnam held a forum on promoting Vietnam– Indonesia partnership in the auto industry in Hanoi on June 2, bringingtogether businesses from both nations.

Openingthe event, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi stressed the Indonesianauto industry has strengths in producing spare parts for sports, SUV cars,sedans and light trucks, adding that the country also export cars domesticallyassembled using spare parts all imported.

Indonesiahas close partnership with Japanese automobile firms and is striving to beamong the region’s biggest auto producers, the diplomat stated.

Hesaid that Vietnam is a newcomer in the field but has strong background andresources and that the forum will boost cooperation between Vietnamese andIndonesian car makers.

DoanDuy Khuong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry,noted the large number of Indonesian auto companies at the forum shows theirinterest in the Vietnamese market and its potential.

NguyenVan, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Supporting Industries Business Association,Vietnam’s support industry is young and faces difficulties in accessing land,capital and technologies.

Thesector needs preferential policies to overcome these challenges, he added.-VNA
