A forum focusing on how to improve the quality and added value ofVietnam ’s agricultural products was held in Hanoi on November 12.
Speakingat the event, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development LeQuoc Doanh highlighted food safety and farm produce quality as keysolutions to sustainable agricultural growth and development, addingthat the State will continue its support for localities in this field.
Hesaid that the forum aims at seeking measures to expand markets, ensurethe interests of producers and consumers, and increase the added valueand competitiveness of Vietnamese farm products.
It is essentialto build product appraisal and market management processes throughstrengthening the State management in the field, while focusing ondeveloping suitable supply chains to bring more safe products toconsumers, said participants.
They also proposed policies to callfor social involvement in food hygiene and safety as well as supportmechanisms for farmers, enterprises and consumers, thus developing thecountry’s agricultural sector further in the future.
Measures toforge links in producing and trading farm products, and those to raisepublic awareness of food safety and their rights were discussed at theforum.-VNA
