HCM City (VNA) – Giac Lam Pagodaon Lac Long Quan Street in Tan Binh district is the oldest pagoda in Ho ChiMinh City.

Built in 1744 by a hermit, Ly Thuy Long, who raised money to build the templeto worship the Buddha, the pagoda was originally called “Cam Son”, “Cam Dem” or“Son Can”.  In 1774 it was renamed “GiacLam” during the time of Venerable Monk Vien Quang.

Hundreds of precious Buddhist idols,artefacts and old documents on Buddhist philosophy are still preserved in thepagoda.

The highlights at the 274-year-old pagodathough are the architecture, sculptures and cultural facets of Buddhism insouthern Vietnam.

Giac Lam was acknowledged as a nationalrelic in 1988 by the Government.

It is frequented by not only local pilgrimsbut also foreign tourists interested in exploring Vietnamese history andculture.-VNA

𒐪 Da Nang fosters international cooperation to boost tourism

Nearly 100 domestic and foreign delegates, including leaders of the Da Nang city People's Committee and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, along with ambassadors and representatives from diplomatic agencies in Vietnam and those from travel firms, gathered in the central coastal city of Da Nang on January 17 for a seminar on advancing tourism development through international cooperation.
