Greater efforts to reform administrative procedures needed

Hanoi (VNA) –
Vietnam has cutthousands of business regulations and special inspection procedures, saving 4trillion VND (172 million USD) in 2017 and 6.3 trillion VND (270.9 million USD)in 2018, according to the World Bank (WB).

The bank’s statistics were released at ateleconference on special inspections and administrative reform in Vietnamduring the first fourth months of this year held in Hanoi on May 14.

Minister-Chairman of the Government OfficeMai Tien Dung, who chaired the teleconference, said thanks to administrativereform, provinces and cities nationwide have attracted more investors with bigprojects.

However, the performance has yet to meetrequirements set by the Government, he said, asking relevant agencies andlocalities to review the work.

The Government has urged ministries andagencies to complete the public announcement of business conditions andoutcomes of special inspections before May 20, 2019.

It was reported that during the reviewedperiod, ministries, agencies, provinces and cities issued 700 decisionsannouncing 13,386 administrative procedures prescribed in 132 legal documents,and received 1,049 petitions, of which 934 were handled.

As of the end of April 2019, 19 out of 23ministries and agencies and 54 out of 63 provinces and cities had issued planson implementing the Government’s resolution on solutions to improve businessconditions and national competitiveness in 2019, with a vision towards 2021.

All offices of ministries and localitieslaunched the one-stop-shop model and 53 centrally-run cities and provinces establishedprovincial public service centres.

The Government Office asked ministries,agencies and localities to exert greater efforts in administrative reform andbusiness environment improvement during the second quarter of this year.

They were also requested to consolidate the one-stop-shopmechanism at all levels and issue internal processes to address administrativeprocedures.-VNA
