Hai Phong (VNA)- The eighth conference on economic corridor cooperation among five citiesand provinces from Vietnam and China will take place in thenorthern city of HaiPhong on November 21-24.
The targeted Vietnamese cities are Hanoi and Hai Phong andthe provinces are Lao Cai and Quang Ninh, as well as the Chineseprovince of Yunnan.
This meeting will focus on assessing the implementation of theresults achieved, difficulties and obstacles in carrying out the contentsof the memorandum of understanding signed at the seventh conference.Besides this, the event will also unify the effective and practicalco-operation, set concrete directions and find appropriate solutions to furtherpromote cooperation among provinces and cities and construct the Kunming-Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh economic corridorto become a model of effective cooperation between Vietnam and China.
The economic corridor conference is one of theinitiatives aimed at creating a basis for friendly exchange,especially in terms of the economy, among localities in particular and betweenthe two countries in general.
Since the first conference held in Hanoi in September 2004,the cooperation between the five localities has achieved significant progressin many aspects, such as actively promoting cooperation and connection betweenprovinces, investment trade development, construction of joint trade centres,and creating favourable conditions for upgrading transport, thus contributingto the development of sustainable relations between the two sides.
