Hanoi mid-autumn festival to spotlight ASEAN culture
The Mid-Autumn Festival 2016 will take place in Hanoi from September 13-15 with one of the highlights being an exhibition on moon festivals of Vietnam and other ASEAN member nations.
Hanoi (VNA) - The Mid-Autumn Festival 2016 will take place in Hanoi from Septe🎃mber 13-15 with one of the highlights being an exhibition on moon festivals of Vietnam and other 🌱ASEAN member nations.
The event aims to promote mutual understanding and solidarity and cultural cooperation among ASEAN members, said the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Exhibits at the event will be photos and objects introducing the land, people, culture and mid-autumn festival of ASEAN member countries, including traditional lanterns and toys as well as costumes.
Visitors will be offered a chance to enjoy Vietnam’s fruit trays of full-moon festival, and try their hands at painting masks and making moon cakes and lanterns.
As part of the exhibition “Vietnamese autumn festival with ASEAN Community”, a seminar will discuss traditional masks of Vietnam and other countries worldwide with the key speaker being Dr. Trang Thanh Hien from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts.
Art performance programmes and areas featuring traditional games will also be arranged during the festival, which is traditionally held on August 15 on the lunar calendar.
