The Hanoi Centre for DiseaseControl (CDC) reported that in recent weeks, the city continues to witnesscases of dengue fever, averaging between 17-24 cases per week.
Among the various districtsand towns, places like Dong Da, Ha Dong, Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung, Bac Tu Liem,Chuong My and Thanh Xuan have emerged as hotspots with the highest number ofpatients.
Dengue fever is known tostrike from August to November, with its peak typically occurring in October orNovember.
However, in recent years, thedisease has taken an ominous turn, making its presence felt as early as thebeginning of the year.
Experts said the early onsetand surge in cases to insufficient efforts in disease prevention and control,coupled with unpredictable weather changes, heightened humidity levels andheavy rainfall - all creating ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes, thecarriers of this disease.
In response to this alarmingsituation, the Hanoi Department of Health has rolled out a plan for 2024 aimedat tackling the spread of the disease.
This plan stresses theimportance of proactive measures in each district, town and municipality basedon the prevailing circumstances, along with the strategic deployment of trainedpersonnel and additional resources to combat outbreaks effectively.
The Hanoi Department of Healthhas developed a plan to implement disease prevention and control measures inthe area for 2024, emphasising the proactive implementation of appropriatedisease prevention and control plans by districts, towns, and municipalitiesaccording to the actual situation. It also includes the deployment of preparedpersonnel and additional resources at different levels of disease outbreaks inthe locality.
The healthcare sector in thecapital city has set a goal of establishing a 100% workforce of healthcollaborators in communes, wards and townships to support the protection, careand improvement of public health.
