Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi wants to boost cooperation with domestic andinternational organisations, including the ICT federation Asian-OceanianComputing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO), in a bid to turn it into a smartcity.
Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung made thestatement while meeting with the ASOCIO Chairman David Wong Nan Fay in Hanoi onOctober 24.
Chung said that in the past two years, the city set up a prevalent server in584 wards and communes to speed up administrative reforms and public serviceapplication for local people.
The city is particularly interested in building database and applyinginformation technology (IT) in the operation of transport system, firefighting,data analysis and system security, he said, adding that it is working withforeign corporations to build the largest database centres in the country aswell as branching softwares to run smart parking lots or use energy-saving lightsystems.
The ASOCIO Chairman said that ASOCIO represents the interests of 24 economiesin Asia-Pacific with proactive members like Japan, the Republic of Korea,Malaysia, and India.
ASOCIO has organised a number of conferences to introduce smart city indexwhich features measures to evaluate IT application in city management, hestated, highlighting the federation wants to organise the same conference inHanoi in 2018.
