Hanoi youth join hands to support flood recovery efforts
Duyen Ha commune in Thanh Tri district, Hanoi, was among the areas severely impacted by recent flooding following Typhoon Yagi. As floodwaters gradually recede, streets remain littered with waste, silt, and debris, creating sanitation challenges.
Youth union member Duc Duy, a resident of Dai Lan village in Duyen Ha commune, joined other union members to clear streets, collecting plastic bags, debris, and floating organic waste left in the flood’s wake.
Under the directive of the Thanh Tri district Party Committee, over 100 youth union members mobilised as part of the “Volunteer Saturday” campaign, supporting residents and local teams by clearing roads, collecting litter, and assisting local preschools with post-flood cleanup efforts.
The efforts of Hanoi’s youth have shown tangible results, significantly contributing to the city’s flood recovery. Their dedication is helping residents return to normal life swiftly, reflecting the impact of youth involvement in rebuilding and restoring the community after the storm./.
