HCM City (VNA) ꧃– The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee’s chapter in Ho Chi Minh City on April 16 held the third consultation meeting to approve the official list of 36 candidates who are eligible for the upcoming election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly (NA).

The approval was based on the results of confidence rating and feedback collected from voters in residential areas where each nominated candidate resides.
Of the candidates, two people are independent candidates, while the remainders were nominated by organisations. According to President of the VFF chapter in HCM City Nguyen Hoang Nang, the approval of the list ensures transparency and equality for self-nominated candidates and candidates introduced by organisations.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City’s preliminary list of candidates for the seats in the 14th NA consisted of 82 persons, including 40 self-nominated candidates. Ho Chi Minh City is to elect 30 deputies to the 14th National Assembly, according to the allocation of the NA Standing Committee. The election of deputies to the 14th NA and all-level People’s Councils of the 2016-2021 tenure will take place on May 22, which is a Sunday as in line with the law.-VNA
