HCM City (VNA) – The People’s Committee of Ho ChiMinh City has asked for more medical staff to support its COVID-19prevention and control efforts.
In a proposal sent to the Prime Minister, the city hopes toreceive an additional 5,000 doctors, nurses and technicians, along with 2,000medical staff serving COVID-19 testing.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health sent 1,936 medical workers from 25 central hospitals, ministries, sectors and health departments of citiesand provinces nationwide to HCM City.
Meanwhile, more than 1,600 lecturers and studentsfrom medical universities and colleges have also been mobilised to assist thecity in stamping out the pandemic.
According to the municipal Department of Health, as of July 23noon, HCM City had recorded 49,176 COVID-19 infections.
In the morning of June 23, the Military High Command of HCMCity started to spray disinfectant in the entire city as part of the efforts to prevent the spreading of the pandemic.

According to Colonel Tu Minh Son, head of the ChemicalsDivision under the Military Region 7, the disinfection campaign will run untilJuly 29.
The Military High Command of neighbouring Binh Duong province will also launch a similarcampaign from July 24.
The Military Region 7 will decide on a plan to spray disinfectant in other provinces and cities depending on COVID-19 developments in eachlocality, he added./.
