HCM City backs Thailand’s KBank to open first branch in VN

Ho Chi Minh City will create favourable conditions for Thai-based Kasikorn Bank (KB Bank) to open its branch in the city, the first of its kind in Vietnam, helping diversify local credit and banking activities, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen has said.

HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City will create favourable conditionsfor Thai-based Kasikorn Bank (KB Bank) to open its branch in the city, thefirst of its kind in Vietnam, helping diversify local credit and bankingactivities, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyenhas said.

Hosting a reception for First Senior Vice President at KBank PattanapongTansonboon on March 22, Tuyen spoke highly of the bank’s strengths in small andmedium enterprise (SME) lending and digital banking services, and said that thebank’s development strategy in Vietnam is in line with the city’s orientations.

He hoped that during its operation in the city, KBank will enhance cooperationand share experience in financial management and development of financial andcredit services with Vietnamese partners.

Pattanapong Tansonboon, for his part, said that the bank stands ready to shareexperience with the Vietnamese city in supporting SME development, handling baddebts, branching out digital banks and implementing cashless payment.

KBank is one of the leading providers of SME lending in Thailand. The bankreceived licenses to reopen its representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi MinhCity in 2014. It is going through procedures for another license to open its firstbranch in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s biggest economic hub.-VNA
