HCM City cancels fireworks celebrating National Reunification Day
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong on April 26 cancelled the fireworks display celebrating the April 30 - May 1 holiday, to prevent any spread of COVID-19 given the complex of the pandemic in neighbouring countries and the world.

HCM City (VNA) - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh CityPeople’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong on April 26 cancelled the fireworks displaycelebrating the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holiday, to prevent any spreadof COVID-19 given the complex of the pandemic in neighbouringcountries and the world.
The city leader asked the Department of Culture andSports to review preparations for other activities to mark the special occasions,with pandemic prevention and control measures to be strictly implemented.
He also requested that local departments, agencies,and localities remain vigilant in fighting the pandemic, while working hard tocontrol illegal immigration, thus ensuring safety during the holidays and also theupcoming general elections.
The city has gone 73 days without any community transmissionof COVID-19. It remains at risk of an outbreak, however, due to complex developmentsof the pandemic in Thailand and Cambodia.

A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
