HCM City exerts efforts in providing treatment for critical COVID-19 cases

HCM City (VNA) – The newly-set up resuscitationcentre in Ho Chi Minh City, the current largest COVID-19hotspot of Vietnam, has played an important role in providing treatment forsevere cases which are on the increase.
Some 160 patients arebeing treated at the 1,000-bed hospital as of July 18, according to Doctor TranThanh Linh, deputy head of both Cho Ray Hospital’s intensive care unit and thenewly-established hospital.
In addition, theMinistry of Health has mobilised over 530 medical workers from four hospitalsin HCM City to the centre. Three northern localities - Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa andHai Phong, and two central hospitals in Thanh Hoa and Vinh Phuc have also senttheir medical staff to HCM City to help with the treatment of patients incritical conditions.
The city’s Departmentof Health has also decided to transform the Go Vap General Hospital into aspecialised facility for critical COVID-19 patients. The facility currently has300 beds and will work to increase the number of beds to 500./.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam requested Ho Chi Minh City continue to tighten management to prevent cross-infection in quarantine and sealed-off areas at an online briefing of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on July 17.
