HCM City expands e-government services

- Ho Chi Minh City's authorities provided 668 online public administrativeservices at levels 3 and 4 in various fields in the first quarterof the year, and more than 80 percent of local residents andorganisations said they were satisfied with the services.
The municipal People'sCommittee organised a conference last week to reviewits 10-year programme in administrative reform and expandingaccess to e-government services.
Ngo Thi Hoang Cac, Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Home Affairs, said that in the past10 years, administrative procedures have been simplified and thequality of civil servants has improved.
Several solutions, effectivemodels and initiatives have shortened processing time and saved costsfor online administrative procedures in various fields suchas investment, land, construction and business registration.
As a result, district andcommune-level administrative units handled more than 84 milliondocuments online in the last five years.
On average, more than 16million documents were handled online each year. The rate ofdocuments processed on time reached 97.5 - 99.9 percent.
All people's committees at thedistrict level offered online business registration applications,with over 30 per cent of total documents processed online.
Since 2017, processing time forhandling administrative documents fell by 30-50 percent. About 99 per cent of totaladministrative documents were done online on time.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Ngo Minh Chau said that such reforms have helped servepeople and businesses, contributed to the city's development, enhancedcompetitiveness, and attracted more investment.
In the coming time, all stateagencies and units must strictly implement measures toovercome shortcomings, as well as continue to improve the quality andefficiency of administrative reforms, he said.
Heads of agencies and unitsmust take responsibility for the performance of their agencies and units,receive recommendations, and promptly resolve complaints from individuals andorganisations about administrative procedures, he said./.
