HCM City honours Catholic volunteers for COVID-19 control
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in the pandemic hotspot Ho Chi Minh City hosted a ceremony on September 15 to honour and present gifts to 29 Catholic volunteers serving at a local COVID-19 treatment hospital.

The volunteers are Catholic monks and nuns who have justcompleted their task of supporting pandemic prevention and control at the city’s COVID-19treatment hospital No.16.
At the event, To Thi Bich Chau, Chairwoman of the committee, lauded their spirit of voluntarily working in risky areas, assisting medical staff, and taking care of patients, thus helpingthe medical sector ease its current pressure of overloads.
Vuong Trong Hieu, deputy head of the hospital, highly valued the contributions of the volunteers, noting that their support has become a great encouragement for frontline medical forces.
To date, 546 volunteers from differentreligious organisations have joined activities in aid of frontline forces at hospitalsacross HCM City. Of them, 107 have completed their missions, with manyregistering to extend their support./.
An additional 115 volunteers who are dignitaries and followers of religions began joining frontliners in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City on August 20 in response to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s appeal.
A ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 23 to welcome and honour 91 religious volunteers who have completed their tasks of supporting COVID-19 prevention and control at COVID-19 treatment hospitals in the city.
More than 10,000 volunteers nationwide have registered through website //chongdich.doanthanhnien.vn to participate in the COVID-19 prevention and control work in the southern region, according to the central committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
