HCMCity (VNA) –𓂃 HCM City’s infrastructure development is focused ontransforming the economy and making it services-based, according toauthorities.

Thecity Department of Planning and Construction of the country’s largest hub inthe south has submitted to the municipal People’s Committee the 2020 – 2045programme for developing industrial infrastructure. Itseeks to make the city the country’s leader in terms of combining theservices sector with infrastructure development and linking commerce withservices and urban areas with industrial parks. Itcalls for good transport connectivity between the city, its satellite urbanareas and industrial parks located in nearby provinces. Italso envisages the construction of express railway and continuous trafficroutes to the Mekong Delta and central region to reduce the pressure on HCMCity.

Itrecommends building Ring Roads No. 3 and No. 4 by 2025, gradually creatinglinks between industrial parks and satellite urban areas.
ꦿ Severalnational highways will be upgraded, and infrastructure will be built in new andrecently expanded industrial parks.

In2025 – 2045 the city will focus on storage and logistics development and raillinks between the city centre and satellite urban areas and between the latterand industrial parks and highways. Thecity will also build infrastructure to develop logistics and the southern keyeconomic region, with a focus on the No.5 ports cluster (HCM City, Dong Nai andBa Ria – Vung Tau), to help develop services for businesses that use ports. Theplans for developing industrial parks will be integrated into the city’ssocio-economic development plan, with those struggling with land compensationand other issues left out. Existingones will focus on hi-tech infrastructure development, the digital economy andhousing policies for workers./.
