HCM City (VNA) – The number of internationalarrivals in Ho Chi Minh City has to date this year reached 3.18 million, up 32percent from last year and meeting 42.4 percent of the yearly target.
Tourism revenue in the period was estimated at over 51.6trillion VND (2.27 billion USD), an annual increase of 14.8 percent. The figureaccounted for 37.4 percent of the yearly target.
The municipal Tourism Department said it will continueboosting the quality of local tourism products and services, with a focus onwaterway routes.
According to a survey of a popular room booking website, HoChi Minh City has so far secured the highest number of booking as the base forvisitors to start exploring Vietnam.
A recent survey jointly conducted by the Tourism Departmentand the municipal Statistics Office showed tourists both domestic and foreignstay for an average 5 days in the city and spend around 145 USD a day, whichshowed a reduction in stay duration compared to a survey of the VietnamNational Tourism Administration in 2013 but the spending stays the same.
Foreign tourist arrivals to Vietnam in January-May skyrocketed by 27.6percent year-on-year to more than 6.71 million, according to figures from theGeneral Statistics Office.-VNA
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and Department of Health on May 23 released a bilingual Medical Tourism Guide with basic information about travel and healthcare in the city.
