An MoU on establishing friendship and cooperation between HCM City and Gyeonggi province of the RoK was signed on April 19 during a visit by Vice Governor of Gyeonggi Kim Jin-heung.
HCMCity (VNA) – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on establishing thefriendship and cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Gyeonggi province ofthe Republic of Korea (RoK) was signed on April 19 on the occasion of the ongoingworking visit by Vice Governor of Gyeonggi Kim Jin-heung to the Vietnamese city.
Under the MoU, the two sides will enhance mutual understanding and promotecooperation through the dialogue mechanism during high-level visits.
Both sides pledge to facilitate cooperation of their private and State enterprisesby creating a favourable business environment, promoting business connectionactivities, and arranging meetings and trade transactions.
They will also step up linkages in other fields such as science-technology,culture-art, tourism, education, environment protection and youth exchange.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee Le Thanh Liem appreciated Gyeonggi’s initiative in establishing andstrengthening cooperation with HCM City, hoping that the two localities will focuson boosting links in the fields of their strengths.
Gyeonggi is considering selecting two schools in HCM City for installation of smartclasses, Liem said, adding that this matches the city's smart city-buildingorientation.
Liem believed that once completed, the smart class project will help betterteaching and learning in the city, expressing his wish that the two sides will worktogether to expand the model in the future.
Briefing the host on the province’s socio-economic situation, Kim Jin-heung saidthe cooperation will significantly contribute to the development of the twolocalities and the two countries in general as both Gyeonggi and HCM City are keydrivers for the respective countries’ economy.
Forthe smart class project, Kim stressed the model has proven effective in theRoK, affirming that his country is willing to cooperate with HCM City to expandthe model in the future.-VNA
