HCM City to connect with 7 localities

HCM City (VNA) -The Transport Engineering Design Incorporated (TEDI) has proposed a transportconnection project between HCM City and seven other provinces and cities.

The seven provinces and cities include Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, TienGiang, Long An, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The TEDI said that HCM City was the focus of the southern majoreconomic zone, so it should be connected to different provinces and cities toensure convenient transport.

TEDI has set out a system of nine main urban roads and fiveflyovers which were necessary for the city’s transport development.

TEDI proposed connecting the city’s main roads with provinces andcities, such as connecting Ring road 2 in Thu Duc district with Ring road 3 inthe southern province of Tien Giang’s Go Cong district. The connecting roadwill span the Dong Nai River and join Highway 20. The connection will aim at connectingthe HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Highway with Highway 1 in the southernprovince of Dong Nai.

Also under the proposal, the HCM City-Moc Bai Highway will beadjusted in the direction of HCM City to Tay Ninh southern province and willextend to the Xa Mat Border Gate in Tay Ninh province.

With regards to the waterway system, TEDI proposed to set up aconnection between the Vam Co River to the Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port in Ba Ria-VungTau province and from the Dong Nai River to the Thi Vai River.

More areas will be set up to collect goods and transport to bigports.

With the railway system, TEDI proposed to supplement theconnection between the Binh Trieu Station with the Sai Gon-Can Tho route.

Contributing ideas to the project, the Dong Nai Department ofTransport said that a connection should be set up from Highway 51 to the DongNai River.

The Binh Duong Department of Transport said that the24.5-kilometre Ring road 3 passing the province should be built.

Leaders of the HCM City Department of Transport said that thedepartment would collaborate with departments of transport in differentprovinces and cities to build connection roads.-VNA
