HCM City(VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City is finalising procedures to implement some projectsaround its Tan Son Nhat International Airport in late 2022, aiming to easetraffic congestion in the area and expand traffic connections with TerminalT3 that is scheduled to be put into operation soon to serve about 20 millionpassengers per year.

According to themunicipal Department of Transport, as there is currently only one road to theairport while the travel demand in the area is high, and this leads to a seriouscongestion around the airport.

In November, the department will start a 4-km stretch of the Tran Quoc Hoan-Cong Hoaroad connecting with Terminal T3 at a cost of over 4.84 trillion VND (206.88 million USD). It will becarried out in parallel with the upgrade of Cong Hoa street. Both are expectedto complete in 3-6 months.

The departmentheld that major difficulties facing the projects come from ground clearance, asmost of the land area for the projects are military-managed land.
