HCM City (VNA) - Of the 407 petrol stations to beopened in Ho Chi Minh City from now until 2030, 62 of them will be on boats onlocal waterways.
The new plan was approved and signed by Vice Chairman of the HCMCity People’s Committee, Tran Vinh Tuyen, after a previous decision about thematter became invalid.
Most of the new petrol stations will be located in outlyingdistricts.
To develop river tourism, 62 stations will be located on boats inwaterways along districts 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Thu Duc, Nha Be, Hoc Mon, Can Gio,Cu Chi and Binh Chanh.
On-land stations include 22 in district 2; 26 in district 12; 51in Binh Chanh district; 53 in Cu Chi district; 21 in Can Gio district; 20 in NhaBe district, and 16 in Hoc Mon district, among others.
Around 106 petrol stations have already been closed, with 532stations operating as of 2016, according to the Department of Industry andTrade.
Along with the new stations, there will be a total of 939 stationsin HCM City by 2030.
The department said the volume of petrol consumption is expectedto reach 2.35 million cu.m in 2020, 3.25 million cu.m in 2025, and 4.3 millioncu.m in 2030.
More petrol stations are needed to meet demand resulting from anincrease in population, it said.-VNA
Ethanol gasoline E5(A92-RON petrol containing 5 percent ethanol) will be sold at all filling stations in HCM City beginning on December 31, according to the city's Department of Industry and Trade.
