HCM City’s police launch action month to ensure social order

HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi MinhCity’s Department of Public Security has launched an action month to ensuresecurity, social order and safety in the city during theupcoming 11th municipal Party Congress and the 7th Party Congress ofthe Central Public Security Organisation.

The action month runs from September 30 toOctober 31.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Directorof the municipal Department of Public Security Major General Le Hong Nam saidthe main tasks of the police force are to protect security and ensuresocial safety and order, and to build trust and consensus amongthe public.

He asked police force at all levels tocontinue to take serious measures to suppress crimes, implementcrime combat and prevention work, reduce traffic accidents, and preventfires and explosions.

The police force should take actionto stop illegal street racing, prevent terrorism and sabotage,and promptly handle public order disturbances and collective violence, hesaid.

Each locality should promotepropaganda activities to mobilise the public to join the“All people protect national security” movement.

The city aims to reduce the number of trafficaccidents and casualties by at least five percent, as well as criminaloffenses, incidents disturbing the public order, illegal racing, and lossof human life and damage caused by fires and explosions. 

The traffic police force willstrengthen patrols to strictly punish the owners of vehicles found to haveconsumed alcohol. 

The police force will examine businessesin accommodation services and entertainment, with special attentionpaid to apartment buildings and offices for lease.

In the first nine months of this year, thenumber of criminal cases in the city was down 1.66 percent over the same periodlast year.

The decline was seen in the numberof criminal and drug gangs, and the number of trafficaccidents, deaths and injuries.

Requirements to prevent and control thespread of COVID-19 have been strictly implemented during thecoronavirus outbreaks by city police forces./.
