Health Minister requests promptly clarifying medical incident’s cause
Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien has asked the Health Department of northern Hoa Binh province to clarify the cause of a recent medical incident that killed seven kidney patients on May 29.

Hoa Binh (VNA) – HealthMinister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien has asked the Health Department of northern HoaBinh province to clarify the cause of a recent medical incident that killedseven kidney patients on May 29.
She made the request during aworking session with the provincial authorities and medical staff of the provincialGeneral Hospital in Hoa Binh on May 31.
Director of the hospital Truong QuyDuong said the hospital has provided enough samples for the provincial publicsecurity forces as requested.
Together with the provincialHealth Department, it has also established a specialised board with theparticipation of experts from the Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital to make clearthe cause.
Deputy Director of the provincialPublic Security Pham Van Su affirmed that the police are doing their best topromptly clarify the cause.
Earlier, Health Minister Tien andleaders of the provincial People’s Committee and the Health Department visitedfamilies of the dead and living patients undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Medical staff said victims arerecovering well.
Also on May 31, the Vietnam RedCross (VRC) presented a total of 86.5 million VND (3,760 USD) to families ofthe dead and living patients.
Seven patients died on May 29with suspected anaphylactic shock while receiving treatment at the GeneralHospital of Hoa Binh province.
Once the deaths were reported,the provincial General Hospital turned off its dialysis machines andtransferred the 11 living patients to Hoa Binh city’s General Hospital andHanoi-based Bach Mai hospital for emergency treatment.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has requested mobilising all available resources to save 11 kidney patients who are receiving dialysis at the hospitals.
Despite storm-related disruptions and flight delays, the organs were successfully transported via a combination of air and ground travel. All patients are currently stable and recovering well.
The patient, Tieu Viet But, born in 1970 and residing in Binh Tri commune, Binh Son district, the central province of Quang Ngai, was working aboard fishing vessel Qng – 95657TS when the incident occurred at 7:00 am.
