Huong Pagoda welcomes over 1 million visitors

Huong Pagoda Festival, the longest of its kind in Vietnam, has welcomed over 1 million visitors so far this year, according to the organising board.

Hanoi (VNA) –𒁏 Huong Pagoda Festival, the longest of its kind inVietnam, has welcomed over 1 million visitors  so far this year, according to the organisingboard.

The festival starts off in Huong Son commune, Hanoi’s outlyingdistrict of My Duc, on the sixth day of the lunar new year andlasts for three months. This year, it started on February 10. Visiting Huong Pagoda complex during the festival is a spiritual journey to the BuddhistLand – where the Goddess of Mercy leads a religious life. Visitors havesightseeing trips to pagodas, temples and caves which are the main attractions, and join ceremonies to ask for favours from LordBuddha. Aside from its religious significance, the complex also holdsspecial values in terms of ecosystem, landscape, architecture and history. The Huong Son complex was listed among national special relicsites in December 2017.  It drawsmillions of visitors every year. The complex was built under the reign of King Le Thanh Tong(1442 – 1497). It was destroyed by French colonialists but has been rebuiltwith the support of the State, local residents and visitors. The Huong Tich cavern has the autograph of Lord Trinh Sam in1770 which describes it as the most beautiful cave in the country.-VNA
