Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - India's Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has just initiated an anti-dumping investigation into hot-rolled coil (HRC) steel, originating or exported from Vietnam, according to the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam.

The products under investigation include hot-rolled coil products of alloy or non-alloy steel, not clad, not plated or coated, with thickness up to 25mm and width up to 2100mm, classified under HS codes 7208, 7211, 7225 and 7226.

The complainants in this case are two Indian steel producers, JSW Steel Limited and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited.
The investigating authority will examine steel exports from Vietnam between January 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024. The extent of the damage will be assessed over the periods from 2020 to 2023.

Within 15 days of issuing the initiation notice, relevant parties may submit comments on the goods under investigation and propose Product Control Number (PCN) for India to consider.

To provide timely and comprehensive information to businesses, the Trade Remedies Authority is working with the Vietnam Trade Office in India to request additional information related to the case.

The authority recommends that the steel association and enterprises proactively request the DGTR to provide full information about the case.

♛ Additionally, businesses should fulfil all obligations, cooperate during the investigation process and communicate and coordinate with domestic authorities to receive support./.
