Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesian police on December 31 arrested three people with suspected links to the Islamic State (IS) during an operation in Central Sulawesi province to✤ hunt for Santoso, the c🏅ountry’s most-wanted man.

The state-owned Antara News Agency quoted provincial police chief Idham Azis as saying that the three are believed to be followers of militant leader Santoso ,who is hiding in the mountainous forests in the province.
The hunt for Santoso and around 30 of his followers may be stopped on January 9, Azis said.
The arrest was made after the US Embassy in Jakarta sent an emergency message to US citizens, warning them of potential security threats at tourist beaches on the island of Lombok during the New Year’s celebrations. Local authorities estimated that Indonesia is home to at least 1,000 IS supporters. Dozens of men suspected of planning bomb attacks over the holiday were arrested in a series of raids recently.-VNA
