Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) is preparing land for embassies of 🎀foreign countries in the new capital.
OIKN's policy analyst expert, Jacky Habibie said the government is in the process of preparing for the moving of foreign embassies. The land has been prepared, he said, adding that the government is waiting to see which embassies show interest in moving to the new capital.
He conveyed OIKN's readiness to support non-governmental, political, religious, social, economic organisations and others who are interested in moving to Nusantara.
Earlier, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said that Nusantara will be one of the best capital cities in the world with Garuda Palace a pinnacle with a unique land contour. According to him, the new capital will become the future for younger generations, a symbol of the nation's determination to weave diversity.
Meanwhile, the representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for Indonesia and Timor Leste, Marco Kamiya, said that Nusantara has the potential to become the first integrated forest-garden city.
He said although cities like Singapore and Amsterdam have combined parks with buildings, no city has succeeded in integrating an entire forest into the urban environment like Nusantara.
Indonesia's future capital will host a ceremony on the country's Independence Day on August 17. President Joko Widodo is scheduled to preside over the event.
A similar ceremony, planned to be led by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, will take place in Jakarta on the same day./.
