Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia a𝓀ims to play an active role in addressing global labour issues, Indonesian༒ Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan said on June 3.
At the 113th International Labour Conference (ILC) held in Geneva, Switzerland, Gerungan said the Indonesian government is not just attending as a participant but as part of the solution to global labour challenges.
He emphasised that the forum provided critical momentum for the world to strengthen global solidarity in addressing labour market inequalities and transformations in the labour sector, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as in response to climate change and advances in digital technology.
The official expressed his hope that the ILC will result in regulations that can serve as global standards. The Indonesian government seeks to serve as a constructive communication bridge between employers and workers, Gerungan added.
The conference, taking place from June 2-13, 2025, at the headquarters of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the United Nations Office in Geneva, carries the theme “Advancing Social Justice: Reshaping the Future of Work in a Polarised World.”/.
