Information and communications ministry mulls cutting voice call charges

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) wants to cut the connecting charge for calls between two mobile networks from the current 440 VND (0.02 USD) to 270 VND per minute.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA)
— The Ministry of Information and Communications(MIC) wants to cut the connecting charge for calls between two mobilenetworks from the current 440 VND (0.02 USD) to 270 VND per minute.

The ministry is collecting opinions for a draftcircular on the issue.

The proposed charge would be also applied for voicecalls between local fixed networks and mobile networks.

Both of the above-mentioned rates include theconnection charges paid to enterprises when they must be indirectly connectedvia the domestic long-distance landline telecommunication network. However, thecharge does not include value-added tax.

Earlier, the ministry’s Circular No 48 which tookeffect from May last year stipulated that MobiFone, Vinaphone andVietnammobile had to pay 400 VND per minute to Viettel when their users call theViettel network, down by 100 VND from the previous level. Meanwhile, users from othernetworks calling MobiFone, Vinaphone and Vietnammobile numbers had to pay 440 VND per minute, down 110 VND from the previous level. — VNS
