Vietnam’s national domain “.vn” now ranks second in ASEAN in number, with over 660,000 registrations. The country is also among the global top ten in IPv6 adoption, with more than 65% of internet users accessing the web via IPv6.

The Ministry of Information and Communications announced a programme on transition to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) in 2021-2025, which will focus on state agencies, instead of the community and business circle as in the previous period, at a meeting in Hanoi on January 15.

The number of '.vn' domain names in Vietnam surpassed 500,000 by October 31 this year, a report has showed.

The use of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) in Vietnam in 2017 grew by 200 percent from 2016.

A thematic seminar on the close linkage between IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) and the Internet of Things (IoT) industry took place in Hanoi on May 5.

The rate of IPv6 usage in Vietnam was reported at only 0.03 percent, 300 times lower than the world’s average rate at 10.4 percent.
