Israel Book Day launched in Hanoi

Israel Book Day, the first of its kind, opened on Hanoi book street on July 16 as part of celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-Israel diplomatic ties (July 12).

Hanoi (VNA) – Israel Book Day, the first of itskind, opened on Hanoi book street on July 16 as part of celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-Israel diplomatic ties (July 12).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Omega PlusBooks company Vo Trong Dai said the event is a continuation of activities tofoster ties and mutual understanding between the two countries.

According to him, Vietnamese readers are interested in Israeland Jewish ethnic group so that a number of books featuring different topicsfrom the country’s history and economy to culture and education have beenpublished in recent years.

On display are more than 100 valuable materials about Israeland Jewish people published in Vietnamese, English and Hebrew languages.

On the occasion, the book “Con duong thoat han” (Let there be water) was presented to thedepartments of natural resources and environment and a seminar onVietnam-Israel cooperation was held.

The book “Sapiens: a brief history of humankind” by YuvalNoah Harari and “Two halves of friendship” by Susie Morgenstern also made debut.

The event was co-hosted by the Omega Plus Books company,Alpha Books company and the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam.-VNA
